Assignment 19: Idea Napkin No.2

1.        My name is JP Eichler and I am a General Studies major with a specialization in Sports Management at the University of Florida. I have been told by others that I have a talent in being able to play all kinds of sports and being able to learn things quickly. I believe that I am a good leader and I am fairly good with computers and knowing how to do things with different software programs. My aspirations are to be a manager with some sort of sports team and to also coach my children in the future and instill the love of sports in them that I have. I see this app as a way to help spread the love of sports to all those at the University of Florida and eventually a larger group of people through facilitating the organization of sports activities with this app. 2.        The app is called Sports LFG which means Looking for Game, and it is an app that those who wish to play a specific sport use to post and communicate wi...

Assignment 18: Create a Custom Avatar

Image
The target audience that I have decided to target are UF students. Typically, UF students are very hard working and diligent. They are also smart so they know when a product sounds good or bad. There is no real way to create an avatar that encompasses the people that want to use my app so I made an avatar of the typical person that I see at Southwest Rec Center playing basketball. This person is in a fraternity and loves to play basketball and other sports with the boys. They also enjoy watching football, basketball, baseball and any other American sport. They also find that they have trouble finding times to fit this into their schedule but don’t really want to pay for something to help them schedule times to play. They enjoy playing but don’t like the crowds and waiting around. They typically drive a scooter around campus. They like pay attention to politics but they don’t like reading books very much; they would much rather use Sparknotes to read the book. These individuals ...

Assignment 17: Elevator Pitch No.2

Image
The feedback I received from the last elevator pitch was mostly positive. They all mostly said that it was a good idea and that they found that the problem was real. I think one thing that I did differently was to not be so up tight and give a scenario to hook the viewer in. I wanted to focus more on the hook and less on the app and its functions because people know this already.

Assignment 16: What's Your Secret Sauce?

1. List of what I think makes me different a. I am not a procrastinator. I like to get things done in advance. I believe that stress is compiled from things that need to get done and the only way to combat stress is to get your tasks completed and to the best of your ability. b. I am a very competitive person. Everything I do I want to do it to the best of my ability and I care about the results I produce, even if it is just a small setting such as a pickup game. c. I prefer to lead rather than follow. My whole life I have been this way, from being the shortstop on my baseball team for many years (they are usually the field captains/communicators), to being the pool supervisor of two different pools. I feel most comfortable in a position of leadership. d. I’m very calm and collected when talking to customer service representatives. A lot of people get mad with them because they direct their anger towards the service representatives but I know th...

Assignment 15: Figuring Out Buying Behavior No. 2

Customer 1:                The price of my product matters to them because they don’t want to pay money for an app that they don’t necessarily need but they want. Quality does matter because they want a functioning app but the style isn’t that important to them. One thing they want is to be able to communicate with anyone.                They would download the app on their phone but probably wouldn’t want to use their computer.                This person says that what makes them think about the rightness of the app is if it actually has results. This means that are people using it, do they get an event to happen, does the scheduling and communication system work properly. If these don’t happen, they wouldn’t be satisfied Customer 2:      ...

Assignment 14: Halfway Reflection

Image
1. The behaviors that I have developed are time management skills and accountability. Time management so that I can plan out my tasks and accountability so that I do them on time and also either watch or go to the lectures for each lesson. 2. A moment where I wanted to give up was when I didn’t get accepted into UF coming out of high school. I didn’t really think that I could ever go to this school but I kept trying to find a way in and I decided to go to Santa Fe and eventually transfer over. It took a lot of work and dedication but I eventually was able to transfer here after two years of school. What pulled me through were my friends here in Gainesville that inspired and supported me throughout my journey through Santa Fe College. I think that these past two months have developed my tenacious attitude because this is a more difficult school in a competitive setting so it has given me some challenges to overcome. 3. The three tips I would offer to next semes...

Assignment 13: Reading Reflection No. 1

The book that I read was Grinding it Out by Ray Kroc. This is a memoir of the businessman Ray Kroc and his journey in life with the McDonald’s fast food chain. 1. What surprised me the most about this is that he wasn’t even the first guy to join and he joined actually quite late. He joined in 1954 when McDonald’s already had 6 locations opened. What I most admire about Ray is that he started very small and sold paper cups for upwards of 19 hours a day to make his living. He had a very humble beginning and it really shows how hard this man worked for what he wanted to become. What I least admire about him is that he cut ties with his previous company because you should never burn bridges, you never know when you’ll need that connection. He struggled with adversity because when he joined forces with another company, they demanded 60% of his income in exchange for some capital for his startup and he had to accept it even though it was a bad deal and he had to live off of 40% of his ...
