Assignment 23: Your Venture's Unfair Advantage

10 Resources:
1.       I am not a procrastinator. I like to get things done in advance. I believe that stress is compiled from things that need to get done and the only way to combat stress is to get your tasks completed and to the best of your ability.
a.       This is a somewhat valuable resource because a lot of people procrastinate but it irks me to see things on my to do list so this is special to me, but it is not inimitable.
2.       I am a very competitive person. Everything I do I want to do it to the best of my ability and I care about the results I produce, even if it is just a small setting such as a pickup game.
a.       This is a common trait but also an important trait to have, so it is valuable but very common.
3.       I prefer to lead rather than follow. My whole life I have been this way, from being the shortstop on my baseball team for many years (they are usually the field captains/communicators), to being the pool supervisor of two different pools. I feel most comfortable in a position of leadership.
a.       This is a trait that I would group under the same vein as not procrastinating in that not a lot of people posses this trait but it is not inimitable either.
4.       I’m very calm and collected when talking to customer service representatives. A lot of people get mad with them because they direct their anger towards the service representatives but I know that it is not their fault.
a.       This is another common trait that many people have but is still valuable to have in the industry that I intend to become a part of.
5.       I care about other's well-being. I feel that I look out for others, even if they are strangers. I do all of the normal things like hold doors for people and I will also go out of my way to help someone if they are in distress or need my help.
a.       Another valuable but common trait.
6.       I am not afraid to meet with new people and am a very likeable and social person.
a.       Another valuable but common trait.
7.       I make good, strong relationships and value my friends and the relationships that I develop very highly.
a.       Another valuable but common trait.
8.       I am good with computers and have been dealing with computers since I was a young child because of my brother and my father being good with computers as well. They have handed down this trait to me and I feel that it will be useful in this venture.
a.       Another valuable but common trait. It is especially valuable with this venture though because it is an app and computer understanding is key with app development.
9.       I am an avid sports player and have been playing sports and in love with sports for my whole life. This is a good trait because I understand the customers that intend to sell to. I understand their mindsets and needs so I can provide a product that will be tailored to their needs.
a.       This is basically in the same vein as the previous trait in that it is common and valuable but is especially valuable for this venture.
10.   My study is in sports management and I intend to minor in Information Systems. This will help me in the future because the product I intend to develop encompasses both of these two things which I hope to master throughout my college career.
a.       I would say that this one is similar to the previous two but are a little less common because I am studying these two things at one of the greatest public universities in the nation at UF.
I think that the most valuable trait that I possess is that I am not a procrastinator because I want to get stuff done. I think that most things fail or fall flat because people are afraid to get things done and don’t want to start doing things. This trait that I possess will set me apart from the crowd and will help me in my venture because I will want to just start doing things and keep completing objectives until I reach my final goal.

  1. Jonathan,

I think your 10 resources all seem to define you as a person and it seems like these will also help your opportunity. The resource of yours that I found most valuable to the VRIN analysis is that you prefer to lead rather than follow. If you have the good characteristics it takes to be a good leader, you venture will go far.
