Assignment 21: Reading Reflection No.2

1.       The general theme of this book is to be informative about a lot of things that will help in the business world. It outlines crucial life lessons that will help me in the long run. Some of these include people being unreasonable, giving praise to people when they deserve it, looking presentable and other things of that nature.
2.       It enhanced my learning in this class because it adds to the information discussed in class, especially about the parts of the elevator pitch and also the parts about marketing. It talks about what to do to make yourself look better but also talks about the ways that people act, as I mentioned before about them being unreasonable. This book is a good complementary piece to this class because of this reason.
3.       The exercise I would design in class is to talk to someone who you disagree with about what you disagree about. After the conversation, analyze what you look like to them; put yourself in their shoes. This will help develop a sense of perspective within the students and open their minds to the world that isn’t in agreement with their own.
4.       I think the biggest thing that surprised me is that it talks about a lot of other things than about failing. I was going into this book expecting to read a man and his many failures in life and how one could overcome them but I got a lot more. I learned more about the world and how I can improve my open mindedness with the ways that the book outlined. It was a very useful book and has informed me about a lot of important life lessons.

  1. Jonathan,
The biggest thing about this reflection that I could not find was the title of the book. I believe that is crucial in this reflection so that we know what you are talking about. However, I believe that it is important to talk about the important details about this business world. I agree that many of the books outlined really hone in aspects of material taught in class. Also, reading books is also a way to open the mind to more perspectives in life and teach us different life lessons that is invaluable to anyone.

  3. Hello Jonathan,
I think you did a good job analyzing this book. I wish you would have included the name of the book and its author. I like the idea of your exercise I think it helps with getting different perspectives in life and figuring out how others think. Books and other people can give us great insights into how others view the world.
