Assignment 16: What's Your Secret Sauce?

1. List of what I think makes me different

a. I am not a procrastinator. I like to get things done in advance. I believe that stress is compiled from things that need to get done and the only way to combat stress is to get your tasks completed and to the best of your ability.

b. I am a very competitive person. Everything I do I want to do it to the best of my ability and I care about the results I produce, even if it is just a small setting such as a pickup game.

c. I prefer to lead rather than follow. My whole life I have been this way, from being the shortstop on my baseball team for many years (they are usually the field captains/communicators), to being the pool supervisor of two different pools. I feel most comfortable in a position of leadership.

d. I’m very calm and collected when talking to customer service representatives. A lot of people get mad with them because they direct their anger towards the service representatives but I know that it is not their fault.

e. I care about other's well being. I feel that I look out for others, even if they are strangers. I do all of the normal things like hold doors for people and I will also go out of my way to help someone if they are in distress or need my help.

This was very interesting to do because I found that my responses were different than others. I saw that with other people, their responses were more relationship based and said that I made good strong relationships and that I am not afraid of branching out from my friend group. I mostly focused on things that characterize me whereas my friends and family focused on my relationships. My mom talked about things that I like that makes me different and kind of eluded to the things that she thought made me different, being that I am smart and care about the appearance of myself. One thing that I would add to my original list is that I make strong relationships and that I am not afraid to meet new people. Looking back, I feel that this is very accurate of my personality.

  1. Jonathan,

Your friend Kyle seems to be very proud of you. It seems like you are very motivated and passionate about things that are important to you. I am also very competitive like your girlfriend says you are, I think it is a good characteristic to have (to an extent). My boyfriend also tries to make me be less serious, maybe it is a guy thing? Good job this week. Your friends seem very happy to be in your life!

  2. Hello Jonathan,

I do believe that this kind of assignments are really important because sometimes it can seem very interesting I find that your responses were different from the others. I think that you have to know what your traits are and to know you as other people see you and this is why I think it is important to know what good qualities you have and if you know them to then use them to your advantage.

  3. Hey Jonathan,
I find it awesome that your family and friends think highly of you and how you have a good relationship with them. I think building relationships and by branching yourself out is a great skill to have. Furthermore, I think that you can use your skills to help you advance in your entrepreneurial process. With branching yourself out to others, this can help you with networking.
