Assignment 3: Your Entrepreneurship Story
The most prominent example of entrepreneurship that I was exposed to as a child was an episode of Spongebob Squarepants. During this episode, the main character Spongebob received a magazine in the mail about all these fancy things, such as a pool, and a guy sitting in a pool inside of a pool. He and his friend Patrick wanted to obtain these things and they came up with the idea of being entrepreneurs and selling chocolate bars. They obtained these chocolate bars and then began attempting to sell chocolate bars as door to door salesmen. They encountered a lot of different people, from a guy who was screaming at them to a guy trying to scam them into buying chocolate bar carrying bags. Their experience had taken a toll on them and the future was bleak, but at the end of their adventure, the guy screaming at them about chocolate decided to buy all of their chocolate. They became rich and went to a fancy restaurant and rented the entire restaurant out, making their neighbor Squidward jealous and angry.

This episode of Spongebob Squarepants is one of the most iconic episodes in its history and is very interesting to look at as an adult through my new perspective as an entrepreneurship student. Spongebob and Patrick did not identify a problem but they just went out and tried to sell chocolate to become rich. This is not the appropriate way to become a successful entrepreneur now that I am looking back on the episode. But they did get lucky at the end because it’s a children’s show and it has to have a happy ending. Regardless, it was an entertaining episode to watch as a child and also now as an adult to see the nuances and underlying themes in the episode.
The reason why I registered for this class isn’t very sentimental. I was basically put in this class at my preview for transfer students in General Studies. That does not mean that I am not excited about this class, because I am actually very interested in entrepreneurship.
I hope to know exactly what it means to be an entrepreneur, the truth about entrepreneurs, and just to learn more about entrepreneurs and maybe how to become one myself.

Hi, Johnathan, this was a funny story I too can relate since I have seen this episode of Spongebob Squarepants. I liked how the episode showed Spongebob and Patrick getting scammed it to buying things to further to make their chocolate bar sales easier like when they bought the bags. I do feeling the episode did show the struggle of making a sale. I feel like real-life entrepreneurs go through a lot of struggle selling product when they first start.
