Assignment 12: Figuring Out Buyer Behavior No.1
1. The segment that I have chosen for this product is UF college students.
3. The questions I asked for need awareness are as follows:
a. Do you feel that it is difficult to coordinate pickup sports?
b. Why do you think it is difficult?
c. How often do you experience this?
d. What time of day do you experience this?
e. Where do you usually experience this?
4. The questions I asked for the information search are as follows:
a. What do you usually do to try and solve this problem?
b. Do you find this/these method(s) to be effective?
c. If not, why do you think that is the case?
5. What I have found from interviewing my three target consumers are that they all have the problem that coordinating is difficult. Two of them said that they can mostly find enough people at a specific time at the gym but the other one was different. Like me, he said that when he couldn’t find the people, he would just not play the sport. This is exactly what I want to solve. All of the interviewees had the same problem and that they wish it were different so that they could play sports at any time but only one couldn’t find a solution.
6. I would describe this segment in terms of need awareness as somewhat aware that a need is there. They all know that they have this need but they cope with it by going to the gym at crowded hours. They all are discontent in some way though because those who go to the gym wish it were less crowded and those who don’t go to the gym wish they had more people. I believe that if they could play at different times in the day, this problem would be solved. Their information searches were not very effective because it is hard to research this kind of problem other than going to venues and seeing what time they have people there.

I think that this is a good idea, but I also am worried about how deep the need is. If someone asked me if I wanted to play pick-up soccer, I would say yes because I enjoy it, however, if there was even a small amount of difficulty or inconvenience associated I would likely just not bother. I also think that there is a small range of people who are interested in this, because after college many people start working full time jobs and start families and therefore do not have the time to play pick-up sports.
ReplyDeleteHi Johnathan,
ReplyDeleteI think that all depending on the person and their recreational background, this app will see different usefulness. I think that this app is very useful, and it would lead to people interacting and a group of people with similar interests. It would be interested to see how this app segments different people; for example: could you put an age range or a preference in gender so that people could have the ability to feel the most comfort? This is something I would think about because I like the idea, but I would be conscious of who I met up with.
Hi Johnathan,
ReplyDeleteIve been foolowing your idea though a lot of assignments, and as I mentioned before I think it has great potential. This assignment was really useful to me to figure out what can make my product difficult and as I see in your post you’ve realized some things too. I do believe that coordinating is difficult, but the people who really wants to play they will find a way to do so. Great post, good job!
